Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Federative Republic of
Brazil Andrei Andreyev took part in the BRICS+ Universities Rectors'
Forum that was held in Rio de Janeiro from 5 to 7 June, BelTA learned
from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Brazil. The event brought together heads of leading universities of BRICS+
nations. The forum serves as a strategic platform for academic and
scientific collaboration among the leading universities of BRICS+ member
states. A number of Belarusian universities were presented at the
forum: Belarusian State University, the Belarusian State University of
Informatics and Radioelectronics, and Grodno State University. The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission held meetings with
the leadership and faculty members of Brazilian universities. The
Belarusian ambassador met with Rector of the Federal Rural University of
Rio de Janeiro Roberto de Souza Rodrigues to explore the possibilities
of expanding academic partnerships and practical cooperation in
agriculture and other areas of mutual interest. Coordination of efforts to preserve historical legacy was discussed
with Professor of the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro
João Claudio Platenik Pitillo, who had visited Belarus earlier to
attend the Great Victory parade. An agreement was reached to familiarize
the Brazilian public with photo, video and printed materials about the
Great Patriotic War. They also discussed joint work on a publication
that will shed light on little-known facts about the heroic struggle of
the Belarusian people against the Nazi invaders and new evidence of
genocide. Andrei Andreyev also took part in the ceremonial signing of a
memorandum between Grodno State University and the Federal Rural
University of Rio de Janeiro.
